Not All Green Smoothies Taste The Same

So if you’ve been reading this blog you know I’ve been working out like a fiend during the last week. I’ve been eating healthier (ice cream and cookies have always been my downfall) and cut my daily average calorie count to about 1600. In the last 9 days I’ve already lost 5 pounds. Today I had a sandwich with multi-grain bread and 2 eggs fried in about a half teaspoon of olive oil and a skim milk iced mocha. I was at about 70 calories for the day if you subtract what I worked off with this mornings work out.

As you can imagine come mid-afternoon I became quite hungry. So I decided to go to the Starbucks at the bottom of the Crowne Plaza to grab a smoothie. I’ve had Odwalla’s “Green Machine” before which doesn’t taste half bad and is low in calories and I looked for the Starbucks equivalent. It’s called “Evolution Fresh: Sweet Greens and Lemon”. It has celery, apple, cucumber, spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, lime, lemon, parsley, wheat grass and clover sprouts. What could go wrong? My opinion? Not nearly as tasty… but at least it costs $5.75! Ouch! I nearly choked when they charged me but not wanting to look cheap I went ahead with my purchase.
