First, we heard Steven Spielberg and George Lucas warn of a coming change in the way we go to the movies. Then, 'World War Z' had that $50 "Mega Ticket," which gave viewers access to all kinds of additional goodies. Now, Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim' is getting in on the action, offering a $20 "SuperTicket" that will include special bonuses. The only catch is that it's for Canadian audiences only.

According to Deadline, like a stripped-down version of 'World War Z''s premium ticket, the 'Pacific Rim' SuperTicket will not only cover your admission to see the movie, it'll automatically pre-order the UltraViolet digital version of the film (a $24.99 value) and give you access to various behind-the-scenes featurettes on the making of the epic robots-vs-monsters action movie. So, in theory, you would ultimately be saving money in the long run, particularly if you were already planning to add the movie to your digital library.

However, there is, once again, a silly problem with the whole concept of a high-cost premium ticket -- what if you don't like the movie? You're out $20, and you're stuck with a download of a movie you won't watch again. It's not nearly as bad as the $50 you would've wasted on 'World War Z,' which offered significantly more swag, but it's the principle of the matter. Although the concept is intriguing, there simply isn't enough bait on this particular hook to sell us on SuperTickets and Mega Tickets, and their ilk.

'Pacific Rim' finally arrives in theaters on Jul. 12. Would you buy a SuperTicket if given the chance?
