Parenting 101 Should Be Common Sense

Parenting 101
Karen Gallagher

When we become parents, there’s no book that tells us what to do.

There’s no one proven way to do things, but there is a little thing I like to call parenting 101!

When yo have kids you ARE supposed to be responsible enough to take care of them.

Kids come with a never ending need for love, discipline and guidance.  Most days your kids need are not going to fit in with your plans.

We recently had a friend of our son’s want to spend the night at our house.  He is a really nice young man and I don’t mind if he stays. It’s just the reason for wanting to stay, not just one night, but two nights.

The reason? His mother didn’t want him around.  She was apparently taking some classes and had to get up early so she didn’t want him there because he would make noise.

So here is my first problem with that, you are his mother, he is your most important priority!

Secondly, “Boo Hoo”, you have to get up early. I get up early everyday and still manage to take care of my two children and yours for a couple of days.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all about bettering yourself and getting an education. But I am also all for taking care of the children you brought into this world and making them feel loved and safe.

How do you feel about parents that don’t make their kids their first priority everyday?

Share your thoughts with me in the comments.
