Pop country singer Paul Jolley narrowly survived another round of the hit reality singing competition 'American Idol' on the results show Thursday night (March 14), placing eighth out of the remaining ten contestants to move on and sing again next week.

The 22-year-old auditioned for Season 12 by singing the Rascal Flatts hit ‘I Won’t Let Go,’ which he dedicated to his late grandfather, who was a First Sergeant. He moved on to the next round by singing Carrie Underwood‘s recent hit ‘Blown Away,’ overcoming nerves that threatened to ruin his performance.

But in recent weeks Jolley has been struggling, delivering less-than-stellar versions of the Keith Urban hit 'Tonight I Wanna Cry' and the Christina Aguilera/Blake Shelton song ‘Just a Fool

He bounced back on Wednesday night, singing the Lonestar hit ‘Amazed’ in a strong, if not particularly unique version. But it earned him enough votes to remain in the competition for another week. Jolley can also look forward to participating in the upcoming 'American Idol' summer tour.
