Darius Rucker and Sheryl Crow were among the big names at Countryfest 2013 in New York on Saturday (July 13), but the super-sized tribute to the ailing Randy Travis might have provided the day's most memorable moment. Over 20,000 fans cheered and shouted the singer's name to show their undying support.

The tribute caps a long, emotional week for fans of the legendary singer. Travis was admitted to the hospital on July 7 with congestive heart failure, underwent a procedure to stabilize his heart the next day and was said to be showing signs of improvement by Wednesday afternoon. However, a stroke on the evening of July 10 and emergency brain surgery left family and friends fearing the worst.

Over the weekend, it was reported Travis was resting comfortably under heavy sedation. The 54-year-old remains in critical condition.

Joe Diffie also provided a touching moment at Countryfest 2013 by performing Travis' hit song '1982.' Easton Corbin and Mark Wills were among other artists who played the festival.

Taste of Country writer and WGNA (Albany, N.Y) DJ Kevin Richards led Countryfest fans in the tribute. The CMA-nominated radio personality is a classic country expert who recently ran a panel of '70s, '80s and '90s hitmakers at the CMA Festival Close Up Stage.
