Ray Price’s Cancer Is in Remission

Legendary country star Ray Price has been battling pancreatic cancer, but there’s good news for the veteran entertainer. The 87-year-old singer has announced that his cancer is in remission, and he will be undergoing physical therapy as the next phase of his treatment.

Price — who decades-long career includes hits like ‘For the Good Times,’ ‘Release Me’ and ‘Make the World Go Away’ — was diagnosed with cancer when doctors found a tumor while removing his gallbladder after an attack of gallstones last year. “The doctor said that every man will have cancer if he lives to be old enough,” Price said last November, adding, “I don’t know why I got it — I ain’t old.”

But Price has responded well to treatment and is currently on the mend. “We are so happy to tell you that I am back home,” the singer tells Examiner.com in an email. “I bring good news that ALL TEST REPORTS SHOW THAT MY CANCER IS STILL IN REMISSION and I am improving daily.”

Price made headlines recently when he engaged in a war of words with reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Blake Shelton over the latter’s comments that he felt made an unflattering characterization of classic country fans and performers. The pair have since met and smoothed things over after Shelton apologized.

Price still performs live on a regular basis, and it looks like he will soon be ready to resume his live schedule. “I am now entering a physical rehab program to improve my muscle tone and rebuild my strength,” he shares. “I hope to see you soon when I am ON THE ROAD AGAIN!”
