Usually I don't like when an artist switches formats and tries to come on over to the country charts, but Dan Seals was an exception to the rule for me. If not for the lavish production elements and some echo, most of "England" Dan & John Ford Coleys songs could've been country. I loved "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" and still recall chasing after Marilyn Dixon in high school, thinking that this is totally our song. She was brunette and had a 69 Mustang with a 390 in it. But that's another story. Back to Dan.

His 1st couple of singles were definitely country. "God Must Be A Cowboy" and "My Old Yellow Car".. But when he put out "Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold", it really hooked me. It had a great story and it was 4 and 1/2 minutes long which was still fairly uncommon for country radio at the time. And then he just put out one great country song after another. "Three Time Loser", and "Bop" were great. And if you live here and don't love "Meet Me In Montana", please move someplace else.

If you like Dan Seals, check out "Guitar Man Out Of Control" and "Lulabye".

Dan Seals would have been 69 years old today.
