Senior High Teacher Sentenced to 15 Years for Student Rape [AUDIO]
Former Billings Senior High teacher Stacey Dean Rambold has spent one day in jail so he will serve 30 more days to total 31 failure to comply with his sentencing for being found guilty of rape.
Rambold pleaded guilty to a single felony charge this past April. In April of 2008, Rambold was placed on paid leave but turned in his resignation under pressure three months later. Rambold also turned in his teaching certificate.
Rambold was 49 at the time of the rape. Morales took her own life a few weeks from her 17th birthday. Auliea Hanlon, the girls mother, testified that the rape was a major factor in her daughter taking her own life in 2010. This story is getting national attention because of the shocking decision by Judge Baugh.
Judge G. Todd Baugh was not convinced that the reasons for Rambold’s dismissal from the sex treatment program were serious enough to impose a lengthy prison term.
We shared some of our disgust on this mornings, Billings Morning News:
“This is absolutely outrageous. A country should be judged on how they treat their children.”
“I got two words, vigilante justice.”
