Silent Protest at Noon Today at Yellowstone County Courthouse
The big news story this week has been the light 31 day sentenced handed down by Judge G. Todd Baugh in Billings for the rape of a 14 year old girl. Cherice Morales was sexually assaulted by her teacher, Stacey Rambold back in 2008.Cherice Morales took her own life just before her 17th birthday due to pressure of the event.
On Tuesday August 27th Judge Baugh handed down a sentence of only 31 days on a 15 year prison term to Stacey Rambold of Billings. This has sparked viral coverage nationwide. The outrage all over the country on this crime has been unbelievable.
At noon on August 29th you may gather on the Yellowstone County Courthouse lawn for a silent protest and to sign a petition asking for Judge Baugh’s resignation. The petition has already garnered 1,000′s of signatures.
Judge Baugh did release an apology statement on August 28th although he still stands by his decision.
Judge Baugh said:
“I made some really stupid remarks” Baugh told a group of reporters today. “It didn’t come out right and I owe the whole county, especially women, an apology.”
