So Long Jay Leno
Tonight was the final show for host of the Tonight Show Jay Leno. After a 22 run as host Leno was asked (aka) told he was to leave so that NBC could bring in a new young host (aka) Jimmy Fallon.
This really doesn’t come as a complete surprise to Leno as he has stated they asked me to leave once before why not now.
His final show tonight had musical guest Garth Brooks, who just happens to be launching an insane three year world tour.
Leno brought his show full circle with Billy Crystal, who was his first guest in May of 1992 and his very last guest February 11, 2014.
Though Leno says he hates goodbyes he says “I am the luckiest guy in the world. This is tricky,” ,and has said he’ll focus on comedy clubs and his beloved car collection.
It was a tender finish to a farewell show that was mostly aiming for laughs, with traditional monologue jokes, clips from old shows and a wild assortment of celebrities.
The typically self-contained comic betrayed a bit of nervousness, stumbling over a few lines in his monologue.
So as Jay Leno, the king of late night rides off into the sunset, we say goodbye and good luck!
