Strong Day Two at the Montana Economic Development Summit
Butte is large than life during the first part of this week as they are hosting the Montana Economic Development Summit.On Monday speakers from Google, Ford, Delta and Facebook spoke of positive growth potential in the state of Montana.
On day two, today a couple of big announcements were made by some pretty big names with some huge world wide corporations. Jim McNerney is the CEO of the Boeing Company and announced a $35 million expansion in Helena!
a move that Boeing expects will add 20 to 25 jobs to the fabrication plant, and 55,000 square feet to the manufacturing space.
The Helena manufacturing plant makes parts for the Boeing Dreamliners.
The founder of Right Now technologies, Greg Gianforte announced that he is starting a program in Montana called, Code Montana. Code Montana encourages students to pursue careers in computer science. Gianforte said,
“Last spring, Montana State University graduated 19 computer science graduates. U of M graduated 18. Montana Tech graduated 9 – for a statewide total of 44. That’s 44 jobs for 400 openings,”
