Sturgill Simpson has received a prestigious honor from his home state.

The Jackson, Ky., native was awarded a plaque naming him an Outstanding Breathitt Countian and an International Rising Country Star, and acknowledging the release of his two successful albums, 'High Top Mountain' and 'Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.'

"I was recently honored by my hometown," he says of the award. "Next to my son being born, I've never felt more proud about anything in my life."

Simpson just released a recording of 'Life of Sin,' from his 'Metamodern Sounds in Country Music' album. The singer-songwriter shared a video of his recording of the song in the historic RCA Studio A building, which was bought by a developer.

“I wanted to capture a more reflective, softer, intimate side of the song,” he explains “I’m not sure how much of that was the influence of the room or my own short attention span. I think it fleshed out a lot of my obsession with all the late ’60s Marty Robbins and Merle and the Strangers albums I love so much.”
