You may not know it, but we have a number of international students who visit and study in Billings each year.  The Council on International Educational Exchange works to place these students with host families each school year.

You can tell spring has sprung since the group is on the lookout for hosts for the 2011-12 school year.   CIEE is in its 64th year of operation in countries all over the world.

Billings has a local coordinator for the group.  Jackalynn Snow is the CIEE Local Montana Coordinator and puts together the host families for these students.  Hosts will have the students in their home from five to ten months.  While there is no cash compensation for participating as a host, you are eligible for a small tax deduction on your Federal Tax for the following year.

I've personally hosted a number of these students over the years while my children were in high school.  The benefits and fun that go along with this time are great memories.  I've stayed in touch with the students long after their return to their home countries.  Their backgrounds vary.  One student became an upper level executive in MTV-France.  Another of our students worked in the Bertlesmann Worldwide publishing business  The students are proficient in English and really want to learn more about the United States.

More information is available at the CIEE web site. Or contact Jackalynn Snow by phone at 406-690-8959 and e-mail at snowpantaloons@gmail.com
