While Garth Brooks has been enjoying his time performing in Las Vegas, the country legend is heading north to Canada to be a part of the Calgary Stampede’s 10-day music festival this July. The Stampede, a non-profit organization that works to promote Western values and heritage, is most well known for their annual event, which will this summer include other renowned country acts like Brad Paisley and the Band Perry.

During Tuesday’s press conference to announce the inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Garth Brooks said fans came very close to knowing him by a different name.
Today (March 6), the Country Music Association announced that Garth Brooks will become one of the newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, along with keyboardist Hargus “Pigg” Robbins and singer Connie Smith. It comes as no surprise, of course, that this once-in-a-lifetime honor is being bestowed upon the record-setting, hit-spreading country king.
Garth Brooks was awarded $1 million in his lawsuit against a hospital in his native Oklahoma. The lawsuit came about to due a dispute over a donation in exchange for naming a wing of the facility after his late mother. Even though Brooks likely doesn’t need the money as one of the most successful country stars ever, it was a matter of principle for him — and the jury agreed. The $1 million includes his original donation, plus punitive damages, according to Reuters.
Garth Brooks has seen more than his share of ups and downs during the past week. Last Tuesday (Jan. 17) he appeared in a Rogers County, Okla. court to put to rest a dispute that has been running for more than 10 years. After about seven hours testifying on Friday (Jan. 20), Brooks is expected to appear in court for a third time today, this time to make his final plea. This all came during the same week he was proclaimed the best-selling artist of the Soundscan era.
