From deliberately corny shows like 'Hee Haw,' to unintentional comedies like 'Country Strong,' Music City has always come off in movies and television as some sort of backwater town full of ignorant, cowboy-hat-wearing hayseeds, instead of a cosmopolitan cultural center that serves as home to the largest collective of top-quality musicians, engineers, producers and songwriters that has ever existed.

Everyone at LP Field was thinking it on Saturday night (June 23), wondering if Faith Hill would be joining husband Tim McGraw onstage during his performance as part of the Brothers of the Sun Tour, also featuring Kenny Chesney. When McGraw announced more than halfway into his set that he had a “special surprise” just for the Nashville crowd and began to sing the beginning of his duet with Hill, ‘I Need You,’ nobody had to wonder any longer.

The country superstar and his longtime label home have reached an exclusive worldwide recording agreement for all of Chesney’s future projects to be released under the Blue Chair/Columbia label, an imprint which gives the ‘Come Over’ singer more creative control.
