The show is filming locally in Nashville, and speculation has been swirling as to whether some of the characters are based on real-life country stars. In a new interview, series star Connie Britton insists her character, Rayna James, is not based on Reba McEntire.

The country great shared a trailer of ‘Malibu Country,’ a show that stars the redhead as an aging, aspiring country star who’s trying to begin a career after a divorce from a country legend. She isn’t the only superstar to appear on the small screen, however. Carrie Underwood was on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and Taylor Swift‘s ‘Mean’ got the ‘Glee’ treatment yesterday. Reba McEntire is taking reports of her alleged tragic death very well. After tweeting yesterday that she was indeed still breathing and doing all the things expected of a healthy, 56-year-old woman, she posted this picture to the Reba McEntire on WhoSay website.
It quickly became clear that rumors of Reba McEntire‘s death were part of a hoax, but it’s still a relief to have the singer herself available to assure fans that everything is OK. McEntire took to her Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon to try to explain the hoax.
“It’s official,” Reba McEntire tweeted last week, sharing, “my episode of @nbcwdytya will premiere on Mar. 2!” She was referring to the third season of NBC’s ancestry searching show ‘Who Do You Think You Are?,’ which will unmask McEntire’s family past. Each season, the show follows celebrities as they dig into their histories, their ancestry and the stories of the people who made their lives possible to begin with.
Reba McEntire is looking out for her fellow Oklahomans. The singer made a generous donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma after she learned about the organization’s Food for Kids program, which aims to provide healthy food choices to school children.
