'The Expendables 3'

Call us suckers, but going by the new trailer for 'The Expendables 3,' we think this may be the one that finally gets it right. Both 'The Expendables' and 'The Expendables 2' were well-meaning but sloppy nostalgia exercises, but we're hoping that the third time is the charm and that this one will be a well-meaning and actually entertaining nostalgia exercise.

The 'Expendables' franchise has one thing going for it: nothing else can top it when it comes to the sheer number of interesting and noteworthy actors on screen. So it's not too surprising when 'The Expendables 3' drops 16 character posters on the same day because of course 'The Expendables 3' would have 16 characters important enough to warrant their own character posters.

We feel bad for everyone involved with the upcoming remake of 'The Raid.' Then again, they brought this uphill battle on themselves when they set out to make an American version of the wildest, craziest and most giddily violent action movie of the past decade. We feel especially bad for Patrick Hughes, who is currently in negotiations to direct the westernized version.

With 'The Expendables 3' uniting some of the familiar teammates with new blood to tackle Mel Gibson's Conrad Stonebanks (yes, that is his name) on August 15, none seem more excited for the action to come than your favorite NBA players. It's been rumored for some time now, but it's now official: the great(ly troubled) Mel Gibson has joined the cast of 'The Expendables 3,' where he'll play the main bad guy. He's also being joined by Antonio Banderas, another fading star who has been rumored to join the film for quite some time.

Even at 71, Harrison Ford is still game to play action heroes -- earlier today we learned that Ford is game for another 'Indiana Jones' film, and while that might not happen, there's another action franchise that's willing to take him in.
