Once upon a time, director Rob Cohen was the man behind hits like 'The Fast and the Furious' and 'XXX.' These days, he's that guy who made 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' and 'Alex Cross.' But hey, redemption is always right around the corner! Cohen has signed on to direct 'Crash Bandits,' a film that has promise written all over it.

Heat Vision has the scoop and they describe the plot thusly:

The project centers on the rivalry between two treasure hunters who specialize in salvaging old plane wrecks. When they get a beat on the ultimate prize, they find themselves in a race against each other in the Amazon jungle.

So it's like an Indiana Jones movie if there were two Indiana Joneses and they were competing with each other? Well, sign us up! If this all sounds a little familiar, it's because John McTiernan was once attached to direct with Hayden Christensen set to star. But that fell apart, so here we are.

After the abysmal 'Alex Cross,' it's difficult to imagine Cohen actually being capable of making a good movie ever again (because it really is that poorly directed), but let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Once upon a time, he directed big, silly movies that were made with confidence and competence -- it's time for a comeback.
