This Christmas I visited family in California and had a great time... I hope your holidays were equally as rewarding. Of course when you fly around the holidays you're likely to encounter more families with kids on the plane. On my flight from Salt Lake City to Billings last night there was a family of 4 (with two small boys) who decided, of their own accord, to sit in other peoples seats because it was more convenient for them. Of course 2 of those seats were directly behind yours truly... the mom and a 4 or 5 years old boy who liked to kick the seat (mine) in front of him. On the same aisle on the other side was the dad and his screaming 2 year old who the mom demanded to hold... now seated behind me as well. Fun. When the people whose seats they were boarded the obnoxious family asked them if they could take the seats they had. Not wanting to be rude they agreed but now that family of four had to sit 3 to one aisle while the mom was 4 rows away from her kids and husband. Another traveler was moved to another seat as well. I would much rather had them and their teenagers behind me than kicking, screaming toddlers.

This all leads me to one conclusion... families with kids 6 and under should be seated in the front of the plane. That way they can all enjoy the screaming and kicking together and not bother the other passengers. Plus if a parent with little kids has their seat kicked they're probably going to be more understanding than I would. Of course it would just be easier if parents controlled their kids but they can plainly see what their little brat is doing and if they don't do anything, any advice or complaints offered will only start an argument.
