Clint Eastwood is famous in Hollywood for being a fast, no-nonsense director who brings his films in on time and under budget, but his next project — a remake of ‘A Star Is Born’ — is having trouble just getting started.

Eastwood initially cast Beyoncé in the lead, but her pregnancy seems likely to keep her from making the planned February 2012 start date, and his preferred leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio, has reportedly turned down the role. According to CMT’s sources, DiCaprio’s loss could end up being Tim McGraw‘s gain.

With Eastwood’s casting directors on the hunt for a new male lead, CMT says McGraw is being considered for the part played by Kris Kristofferson in the 1976 version of the film. It wouldn’t be McGraw’s first trip in front of the cameras — he’s appeared in films such as ‘The Blind Side’ and ‘Country Strong’ — but it’d be his most high-profile role.

McGraw’s next album, ‘Emotional Traffic,’ is still waiting for a spot on the Curb Records release schedule. His most recent single, the ‘Country Strong’ duet ‘Me and Tennessee,’ added another top 40 hit to his impressive tally.
