Four of the Top 5 songs on the April 2016 Top 40 Country Songs list raced there in just a few months. It took less than three months for our No. 1 song to hit the top, and several behind it leap-frogged hits from more established artists to become amongst the most sought-after songs in country.

Newcomer Maren Morris' "My Church" has consistently been at or near the top of the sales charts, but Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind" is there, too. Sales do not solely define this list, however. Other considerations have shuffled a list found on iTunes around. In fact, many songs in any week's Top 40 sales chart don't make this list because they're flashes in the pan, or they're receiving little or no radio airplay.

The Taste of Country Top 40 list combines multiple forms of feedback into one organized chart. New songs from Thomas Rhett, Kenny Chesney and Jake Owen crack the Top 20 this month. You'll also find debut singles from Morris, Chris Lane and Kane Brown. Scroll through, decide where we got it right and wrong and let us know in the comments section below.

The list of Top 40 Country Songs of April 2016 is compiled from Billboard chart data and sales figures, in addition to staff opinion and reader feedback.
