Tough Times For Sidney, Montana

First there was Jody Verhasselt, the 46-year-old Sidney man, snowmobiling in the Cooke City area that died in an avalanche. Then there’s Sherry Arnold, the school teacher who has been missing since Saturday. Now, Sidney, Montana is suffering the latest loss of the Triangle Bar southeast of town, which burned down this morning.
It has been a tough couple of weeks for the little town in Eastern Montana. Sidney has endured blow after blow, tragedy after tragedy.
This endearing town of 5,191 residents, according to the 2010 census, has seen many changes in the past year with the recent growth in the oil industry, known as the Bakken Boom. Between the rapid changes occurring around the town and these unfortunate events, and you have to wonder how they will endure all of it.
One would hope that wherever you are, you are saying a little extra prayer for the residents of Sidney in this time of sadness.
Editor’s Note: If you have any information on the whereabouts of Sherry Arnold, contact the Sidney Police Department at 406-433-2210.
