Trent Harmon just keeps winning. The American Idol champion took down Carrie Underwood in his first Showdown appearance over the weekend. "Falling" is the sexy, soulful single that Harmon debuted during the final week of the reality competition.

By the slimmest of margins, Harmon's song moved on to a second Showdown round. While not marketed as a country artist until late Season 15, Harmon's roots will show in the future. Mentor Scott Borchetta says he plans to take the Mississippi-raised singer to country radio.

This test against the pop-friendly sounds of Kelsea Ballerini will answer some questions. The newcomer's next single from The First Time is "Peter Pan," a ballad about a boy who seems unable to grow into a man. The fan-favorite is sure to gather some attention during this song battle.

Listen to clips of both Harmon and Ballerini’s songs and vote for your favorite here. You can vote once every hour until this Showdown ends on Wednesday at 8AM ET, so come back and vote often to be sure your artist wins. The winner of this matchup will face a new challenger on Wednesday.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour online. If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.
