This morning, the Flakes opened up the phones and asked Cat Country listeners to tell us about the first car they ever had.  We heard some great stories.

First, there was the gal whose parents gave her a rusty old truck in the 80's.  How rusty was it?  She could see the road through the floorboard, or what was left of the floorboard.

Then we heard from a gentleman who drove a 74 Plymouth Duster.  He souped it up with new wheels and a killer stereo and he claims it was the fastest car in its class.  318 engine, three seater.  You had to have a four barrel to beat it.

We also got a call from a gal who paid $70 for a '58 Chevy Biscane.  The wipers didn't work and it wouldn't go into reverse.  But it was still a good deal.  Another guy paid $99 for his 59 Chevy Wagon.  It didn't take long before his buddies dubbed it "the party wagon".  To this day, it's the best car he's ever had.

There was a common theme in all of our phone calls.  The best cars weren't the ones that your parents bought for you.  They were the beat up, rusty old rides that you paid for and worked on yourself.  Like one caller who bought his dad's 64 Chevy Bel Air and spent an entire summer rebuilding the engine with his pops.  Those are memories he will always cherish.

What about your first car?  Feel free to drop Mark and Paul a line and tell us all about it.  Flakes103@yahoo.com.
