We were sitting at home last night when my wife went to put the baby down for bed. A moment later she came out saying that she thought someone's house was on fire. We ran to the front door and could see bright flashes of light like the flickering of a fire coming from a distance outside of our subdivision.

Just as we were speculating on what it could be, our neighbor pulled into his house from work.

"Ron, what's going on out there?" I asked. "Is there a house on fire over there?" He was quick to fill us in.

He said that the gas plant was doing a burn off so there wouldn't be an emergency. Emergency? He proceeded to tell me that it's a safety thing so there isn't an explosion or something bad.

I had to see what was going on and my boys were very intrigued so I loaded them up in the truck and took a drive to see it for ourselves. We found a nice spot in our doctor's office parking lot kind of overlooking Lockwood.

The flame was in plain view for us and it was burning at a pretty good rate. The kids thought it was awesome. This is new for us so it was a sight for us to see.

Did you see it?

My phone camera really sucks with night time picture and video, but I took the video below for you to see in case you missed it.
