As I Sit Here Watching My Children Play, I Wonder What Kind of Legacy I’ll Be Leaving Behind?
As I sit and watch my children play, I wonder what they will become when they are all grown up and out of my house. It made me question if my parents had that same thought when I was little?
Now that my older relatives begin to pass on to the world beyond, I seem to reminisce a lot more about when I am gone from this world what will I be remembered for? I mean I have never flown to the moon or saved a life with a miracle surgery or discovered a vaccine to help save a third world country.
I have lead a pretty casual life, no major skeletons in my closet.
So I decided to ask some of my coworkers and friends; if I was gone tomorrow, what would you say about me at my funeral?
It was amazing to me how uncomfortable they became with that question.
Then I asked myself, what would I want people to say about me when I’m gone?
You know the standard, she was a nice person, she had a great laugh, she was a giving person, you know the standard stuff.
Do you ever wonder what would people say about you if you were gone from this world?
I just hope it is nice.
