I think this is the first year my family and I haven't had a real Christmas tree. To be honest, it's kind of strange not having one. There's been a lot going on with my family this year and my wife and I felt that we would take an easier way and put up an artificial tree this year.

As long as I can remember a real live tree has been a part of my family Christmas. When I was a kid, the trees weren't that great. More like a tall sage brush. None the less, it was real. The smell, the sticky sap and falling pine needles are just a few of the things I remember from those days.

Our first Christmas tree in Memphis was actually from Oregon. Really nice and big. It was a great looking tree. However, it dried out so quick it didn't make it to the big day even with a trimmed stump and lots of water.

There has been ups and downs with the live Christmas tree but they've all been memories my family and I can sit back and smile at.

It's going to be an interesting year trying out this fake tree. It's not horribly bad. At least I didn't have to string the lights up on it because it came with it's own. That's a good thing right?

Which do you prefer? A real or artificial tree? Holla at me on the Cat Line. 406-248-5665
