What’s Your ‘Home-Alone’ Age?

So, my 8-year-old thinks he's qualified to stay home alone now. Our answer, "Of course not."

Call my wife and me overprotective parents, but with so many home invasions and abductions happening lately, we're not going to take that chance.

He's a kid and doesn't see our point of view nor does he see the risk involved. I honestly don't expect him to understand. I just want to protect my kids as much as I possibly can. Staying home alone is a definite no. Besides, I am not going to jail for child neglect.

What do you think the appropriate age is for kids to be left home alone is. Teen years? Never? We think at least when they are teens, but it will also depend on maturity.
