I've been working out nearly every day since early January at Billings Athletic Club. When I started I was 245 lbs. and now I'm down to 220 lbs. I'm a firm believer that when your body needs something it will tell you. A couple of good examples would be when you're tired you start yawning and when you're upset you seek out hugs.

When you go on a diet and exercise regimen your body uses the nutrients you give it differently and you have different needs. I've been consuming a lot more protein than usual and have cut back on carbs. As a result I find myself craving foods that I wouldn't normally crave. Not that I don't like these foods, I do, but I wouldn't usually put them on "have to have" status.

Today I'm craving a bean burrito. Not sure why, as I don't eat that many of them, but I feel as if I must have a bean burrito so guess what's for dinner? Over the weekend I had to have Oreo's. I was pissed because why am I working my butt off at the gym if I'm going to sit and eat Oreo's? But it didn't matter, I had to have them! Every once in awhile my body says "you need pasta" which makes some sense since the denial of carbs would create a need for fast energy from time to time but the urge to eat these things is almost unstoppable. Luckily I've been able to keep the calorie counts to where they need to be to still lose weight. I think it's the body's way of controlling the speed of the weight loss as too much too fast isn't healthy. Besides, asparagus spears are no substitute for French fries... sometimes you just gotta have them.
