Chances are that you've seen the announcement that Vice President Mike Pence will be here in Billings this Friday for a rally in support of Greg Gianforte.  Will you go and listen to him speak?

Here is my thought, whether you are a supporter of Gianforte, Quist or Wicks, think about going, this could be a once in a lifetime experience.

Take the politics out of this and go for the experience of seeing the Vice President of the United States.

I look back several years ago when I was living in Minnesota and President George W. Bush was speaking in Rochester in support of Senator Norm Coleman.

At first I was thinking, I'm not driving over there to hear some speech about politics (I mean I knew we were moving back to Montana and wouldn't be voting in the election anyway)

After thinking about it, I thought this is a once in a lifetime chance (though I was lucky enough to see him again here in Billings a few years later) to see a sitting President and be within a few hundred feet of him.

Just the idea that I was in the audience and could see this real human being was amazing.

I had tickets to see President Obama when he was here, but sadly I wasn't able to make it.  I was super bummed.

Here is my personal opinion, put aside Greg Gianforte, Rob Quist and Mark Wicks, take time to absorb the presence of the second most powerful man in the United States.

It doesn't happen every day that we get the President or Vice President of the United States to come to our city.

It really is pretty exciting.

I would encourage my kids to go, just so that later on in years when their kids are learning about Presidents and such, they could say I saw (blank) when I was about your age when he was in Billings to give a speech.

The rally will start at 6 p.m. Friday at the Montana Pavilion. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend. You can RSVP for the rally at PenceInMontana.com.
