Rising country singer William Michael Morgan is the proud father of a baby girl. The "I Met a Girl" singer welcomed daughter Presley Morgan on March 23.

The singer shared the news via Facebook on Friday (April 8), writing, “I am so excited to be a dad! I can’t wait to experience all the joys of being a father, like seeing my baby girl grow, crawl, walk, hearing her call me ‘Daddy’ for the first time, starting school and so much more."

“Her mother and I look forward to providing Presley with a loving and nurturing environment so that all of her dreams and desires can come true," he adds. “Children are the promise of our future and of God’s love. Presley is truly a blessing from God!”

Presley weighed 7 lbs., 9 oz. at birth, her proud papa reports.

Morgan released his debut single, "I Met a Girl," in August of 2015 via Warner Music Nashville, and it’s a throwback in some ways to a more traditional country sound, even though it was written by progressive country star Sam Hunt, along with Trevor Rosen from Old Dominion and Shane McAnally. The singer favors a traditional look, too; he's one of very few younger male acts to wear a cowboy hat, and he's somewhat reminiscent of a young George Strait in his approach and delivery. His smooth baritone and earnest presence earned him a spot in Taste of Country's Hot Artists to Watch in 2016 lineup.

The 22-year-old singer performed "I Met a Girl' at his big debut on the Grand Ole Opry in October of 2015. The song's lyrics may take on a new meaning now that he's welcomed his daughter: "I met a girl with crazy shoes and baby blues / The way she moves is changing my whole world / I met a girl,” he sings.

Morgan is slated to perform at this year's 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival in June. Keep up with the latest news at his official website, or follow him on Twitter and Facebook.
