The most expensive place in America is only a few hours away from Billings.  This morning, the Flakes read a new study from the Apartment Guide ranking the most expensive apartment rentals in the United States.  Amazingly, it costs more to live in Williston, North Dakota than any other place in the country.

Williston, North Dakota?  More expensive than New York City, LA or San Francisco?  Thanks to the recent oil boom, a 700 square foot, one bedroom apartment in Williston now averages an astonishing $2,394 per month.  That's over $500 more each month than the San Jose, CA, metro area, which ranked second.  It's $600 more than the average apartment price in San Francisco and nearly $1,400 more than a comparable place in New York City.

Another North Dakota town also finished among the 5 most expensive rental markets in America.  A one bedroom apartment in Dickinson, North Dakota will set you back over $1,700 a month.  With real estate become so scarce near the North Dakota, Montana border, it's only a matter of time until people in Glendive and Miles City are paying over $1,000 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment.
