Bryan Singer is back to helm 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' and in this new featurette, we hear from the director himself on why he's thrilled to return to the franchise. Yeah, that's great and all, but even better is getting a glimpse at some footage from the upcoming sequel, which unites both the classic 'X-Men' cast and the new, younger cast in a time-traveling adventure to stop a common threat. While Quicksilver's busy chomping on burgers in those Carl Jr. ads, Wolverine and Professor X have some real work to do.

Entertainment Weekly debuted their summer issue magazine cover, which features the cast of 'Days of Future Past' and Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique front and center. That's a pretty awesome move on the magazine's part to feature the enigmatic sidekick of the shady Magneto in the spotlight, but even better putting the younger J-Law in front of Hugh Jackman and Michael Fassbender.

In conjunction with the cover (shown below), EW also released a new featurette (above), which features director Bryan Singer discussing why he's stoked to return to the franchise -- mostly the obvious stuff, like getting to work with the cast he's familiar with and the younger, new cast, while also integrating a cool time-travel story from the comic books. We also get to peep some great footage from the film, including James McAvoy's Professor X interacting with Patrick Stewart's Professor X, and Jennifer Lawrence shape-shifting as Mystique.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' also co-stars Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult, to name a few, and hits theaters on May 23.
