The three-hour benefit for Parton’s My People Fund will aid relief efforts in Gatlinburg and other East Tennessee communities devastated by recent wildfires.
An impressive list of artists including Reba McEntire, Ronnie Dunn and Hank Williams Jr. have signed on to help. In addition fans can count on performances from Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Amy Grant, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, Michael W. Smith, LoCash and Montgomery Gentry.
Over a dozen were killed and 100 injured when fires started in late November. According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Association, 1,500 structures were damaged or destroyed, including hundreds of homes. Parton has pledged $1,000 per month for six months to all families whose homes are uninhabitable as a result of the fire. Country artists like Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney were early with financial support, and money has been streaming in through other charitable efforts, including Parton’s own Dollywood Foundation.
