Who says there is nothing free in the world anymore?

Coming up this Saturday it’s your chance to get free books at the library. Starting at 10 Saturday morning the Parmly Billings Library plans to give away tens of thousands of books in a last copy, last chance free-for-all.

The books are the last copies in the libraries fiction book depository. Since 1974 the library has collected last copies of fiction. After a series of sales, the remaining books will be up for grabs Saturday morning.

The plan to rid the library of the books has actually been in the works for the past few years. When the plans for the new library were released it was realized that there was no room for the collection of “last copies” – so a plan was devised.

Which brings us to this Saturday morning –starting at 10 and going until 4 on the 3rd floor and estimated 30,000 books will be free for the taking to the public. Bring a book bag and add to your collection.
