Garth Brooks Brings ‘GMA’ Audience to Tears With Performance of ‘Mom’ [Watch]
Garth Brooks' song 'Mom' begins with “A little baby told God, ‘Hey, I’m kinda scared,’" and ends with a room full of country fans in tears. The singer performed the song on 'Good Morning America' on Friday morning (Nov. 7), and left women like Robin Roberts gasping for air.
Last week, Brooks explained that the song is a conversation between an unborn child and God. The Don Sampson, Wynn Varble-penned ballad is one he struggles to get through himself, as he was very close to his late mother before she died in 1999. Brooks makes it through this acoustic version, however.
"Why can't I just stay here with you / Did I make you mad, don't you want me to," he sings before the first of many tissue moments.
Find 'Mom' on Brooks' new album 'Man Against Machine,' available in stores and at GhostTunes on Nov. 11.
