It's National Donut Day which is celebrated on the 1st Friday in June every year.

This day celebrates the donut and honors the Salvation Army Lassies who were women that served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.

The Salvation Army created National Donut Day in 1938 to honor women who served the donuts to soldiers in World War I. It began as a fund-raiser and the goal of their 1938 fund-raiser was to help the needy during the Great Depression.
