In a time when a lot of legacy fast food outlets and restaurants are closing, it's been interesting to watch the gradual march of In-N-Out up the spine of the Rocky Mountains.

And it's Southern Idaho now getting the go-ahead for another location for the legendary California burger chain there's yet another pin in the map in Montana's direction.

While there are no indications of In-N-Out actually putting an outlet in the Treasure State yet, Montana's are getting more options for that regional road trip meal.

First Boise, now here

In-N-Out expanded through Utah over the past decade, opening a dozen locations to great success. Most of the franchise's restaurants are busy even a couple of years after opening.

In-N-Out's first location opened in the Boise area, in Meridian, last winter. East Idaho News reported that fans of the burger chain went nuts, camping out in freezing weather for days before they could chow down.

Since then, the company has said it plans to open an additional 3-locations in the Boise and Nampa markets in the near future. Work is already being done on locations in Washington. They've already been in Oregon for the past decade.

Now, Twin Falls is the latest In-N-Out to get the green light.

Will In-N-Out open in Idaho Falls?

KIVI TV is reporting the Twin Falls City Council finally gave approval to a new In-N-Out last week. The city's Planning and Zoning Commission had denied the permit in June, over concerns about traffic impacts in the already busy commercial area just off the Perrine Bridge.

The approval came after the chain agreed to make a few changes to prevent traffic jams.

While the next logical step would be an In-N-Out in Idaho Falls, or even Pocatello, it doesn't look like that's an option, yet, for residents, and Montana and Canadian road trippers on I-15.

A company told East Idaho News in December, that both towns are "wonderful communities" but the company didn't have them on the list for new locations.
