An Open Letter to our Veterans and Active Service Members of Montana
It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving to show gratitude, nor does it have to Veterans Day.
I’d love to honor our veterans and active military members from Billings, Montana and surrounding cities, not to mention the entire U.S.
When I was a child, I wanted to be in the military.
There’s something powerful about being with a unit of people who all have the same goal, who protect and serve this country. You are recognized, noticed, and I thank you for keeping this country safe.
Thank you for your bravery.
It takes a lot of guts to do what you do/ did.
Thank you for your resilience.
Mental health and stamina are requirements you need for your job, and when you combine the two, a military person becomes a powerhouse.
Thank you for your time and energy.
You spend time away from your family, you’re put in danger sometimes, or maybe all the time.
Thank you for honoring our home country.
Without our military we wouldn’t be a free country. I probably wouldn’t be writing this article right now if passed wars had turned out differently.
Thank you for asking for help if you need it.
Your job is unlike anything in the world. You see a lot of stuff we don’t see, nor could even fathom. Mental health help for our veterans and active-duty military is so crucial. Help is out there, I see you. I hear you.
Thank you to the military personnel who came home injured from the line of duty whether physically or mentally, for the men and women that didn’t get to come home, and to the ones who came home in caskets.
I’m so sorry this could be a part of your job. Again, your courage is noticed, and very much appreciated. May the fallen soldiers rest in peace.
