‘White Cheddar’ is a Gouda Girl: Adopt Today at YVAS
With a name like White Cheddar, we can't help but be a little punny with today's Wet Nose Wednesday headline. Our featured dog this week is super sweet, calm, friendly, and ready to adopt now at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter in Billings.
White Cheddar is a 5-year-old Akbash Mix.
We're familiar with most dog breeds, but this was our first time hearing the word Akbash. The breed looks similar to a Great Pyrenees, but White Cheddar has several features that make her look more like a white or yellow Labrador, including her happy face.
Akbash dogs are an ancient breed, native to Turkey. They served as guardians and protectors for flocks of sheep. Highly intelligent, these working dogs can also make great companions and family protectors.
Give this charming girl some food!
Derek Wulf, Humane Outreach Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, said that White Cheddar arrived as a stray (along with another dog named Parmesan) and both of them appear to have been running wild for a while.
Both were malnourished and White Cheddar certainly deserves to put on some weight. While she's tall, she's quite thin. We think whoever adopts her should spoil her rotten with treats.

People get busy this time of year, and adoptions drop at the shelter. To help, YVAS is running an adoption special on all adult dogs. Now through September 3rd, you can adopt any adult dog for just $50. A savings of over $100.
Inventory at YVAS changes daily. Browse all of the animals currently up for adoption HERE. Thank you to Shipton's Big R for supporting animal adoption in the Billings area.
