No, A.I. are not the initials for Alexandria Ingersoll.  You know what AI is.

I have been leery of anything AI related.  So it feels like a risk to download ChatGPT onto the work computer I use.  But should welcome the new technology and software, right?  Give it a fair chance?

So I tried loading the writer AI.  Mistake one is to try any downloading.  That's not necessary.  You can use the service straight from the website.

You can specify what you want and the length and even the style to reflect a genre or author.  So I thought about this before ever opening this AI.

Here are the parameters for the poetry:

A poem about the Montana cowboy, 30 lines, iambic pentameter, in the style of Shakespeare.

Here's the Poem

Upon the rolling plains where shadows blend,
There rides a lone and rugged cowboy bold,
Where Montana's winds and sun their message send,
And tales of old and wondrous dreams unfold.

With hat of broadest brim and spurs that ring,
He rides the wild and unrelenting range,
A troubadour of freedom’s ancient sing,
In realms where man and nature oft exchange.

His steed, a creature forged of fire and grace,
Moves swift beneath the sky’s unending dome,
With steadfast gait that mirrors time and space,
He roams the land that he doth call his home.

The mountains guard the secrets of his past,
Their peaks like sentinels in heaven’s keep,
He rides through ages, shadows that they cast,
In silence where the ancient echoes sleep.

The stars his only counsel through the night,
Their silver tongues do whisper soft and low,
He finds his path by their celestial light,
And follows where the wild, unbounded flow.

Yet still he dreams of distant realms unseen,
Where rivers sing and endless prairies lay,
His heart is tethered to the land serene,
A cowboy bound by honor’s simple sway.

No man of courts or castles draped in gold,
But one who knows the land’s deep, rugged grace,
In every storm, in every tale retold,
He finds the truth in nature’s warm embrace.

The sun shall set and rise as it has done,
Yet still he rides, the cowboy, bold and free,
A symbol of the land beneath the sun,
In Montana’s vast and storied tapestry.

Not bad for an AI

Some editing is needed for word choice to polish a written work.

As long as it is written, how does it sound?

It's fair to say that ChatGPT is a little better at writing poetry than I am at reciting it.
