Two Downtown Billings Restaurants Already Say Good-Bye in 2025
Last week, Billings was hit with a double punch of restaurant closure announcements. One was announced, and the other was rather abrupt. The seemed-to-be-popular Wild Ginger is already shuttered, and fan-favorite Bin 119 will be closing soon.
Wild Ginger is closed "Until further notice".
Wild Ginger opened nearly a decade ago (August 2015, per the paywalled Billings Gazette) on the corner of Montana Avenue and 27th St North. I remember being impressed by the decor and ambiance when it opened, with a modern Asian vibe and a huge fish tank in the main dining room/bar area.

A large hibachi room was behind the bar, with 3 or 4 hibachi stations. The food and service were good every time we dined at Wild Ginger (admittedly not that frequently in recent years). Online reviews are mixed, and your experience may have varied.
Employees at Wild Ginger received no notice of the closure and many of them are reportedly scrambling for new employment, according to local Facebook chatter.
I stopped by for a photo and found a sign taped on the door, that said "We will be closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try our other restaurant Asian Sea Grill on 1911 King Ave W. Thank You!"
When I peeped in the window on Friday to see if the space had been vacated yet, I probably annoyed the two individuals who were discussing something inside. I was a bit startled, but no one came to the door to question what I was doing. The founder of Wild Ginger was sentenced to prison in 2024 for sex crimes against employees.
Bin 119 Bistro announced its closing this month.
Just days after the news broke about Wild Ginger, the owners of Bin 119 posted a heartfelt message on its Facebook page that they too would be closing. According to the post, the last day of operation for Bin 119 will be January 18th. Fans are encouraged to make reservations.

Bin 119 opened in 2008, next to the Montana Brewing Company on N Broadway in Billings. The restaurant was known for its "finely curated wine selection and intimate atmosphere", we wrote in March of 2024, when it was announced the restaurant had changed ownership.
