He's a hometown boy who was able to make it back home to Glasgow, Montana and eventually serve as the Athletic Director (AD) for the Glasgow Scotties. Now, Brenner Flaten has been named Athletic Director of the Year.

The Montana High School Association (MHSA) recently announced the news, noting that the selection was made out of 182 member schools. According to the MHSA press release, Flaten was selected as the overall selection for AD of the year:

The Montana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) recognizes an AD of the Year in each of the 4 Classifications (AA, A, B, and C) as well as an overall selection...Glasgow High School has only had one other recipient in the past 47 years. Bob Farrell was Overall Montana AD of the Year in 1980, when the Scotties were in the Eastern A Conference.

I remember Mr. Farrell from back in the 80's. I also remember the Flaten family as a strong wrestling family back in the 80's as well.

After spotting news of the recognition via social media we reached out to Flaten for reaction. He says, "I am humbled and appreciate the honor."

You fishermen out there may also know Flaten from his role as the Vice President of the Montana Catfish Association.

He is the co-founder and current tournament director of the Annual Milk River Catfish Classic held the 1st weekend of June every year in Glasgow, MT. During his time with the classic, the tournament has grown by leaps and bounds
