SD2 Superintendent Pick Says No
Q2 reports that, just as with Billings’ top choice for city administrator, the man selected as Billings Public School Superintendent has declined the job after originally agreeing to take the helm at School District 2.
In a letter to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Ross Kasun informed district officials that [quote] “the timing was not right for him to make such a significant professional and personal change, largely because of recent events in his life.” [end quote] Helena administrator Greg Upham, the other top finalist for the job, will be contacted to discuss his possible employment. According to the Kasun letter, the decision was not based on anything pertaining to the district.
Greg Doyon, the Great Falls city manager who was the unanimous choice to become Billings’ city administrator, withdrew from the job over contract considerations in December of 2017.
