My oldest daughter Mallory came to visit over the last week or so and it was so good to see her. She was always the rebel out of the four kids.

My daughter is already at the age where dolls don't get a lot of attention, but she loves making things, so this seems like a good fit. Honestly...anything to get her making something other than slime.

We've got a couple of young ladies on my street who sell lemonade a couple of times every summer. One of my favorite excerpts from "Life's Little Instruction Booklet" says. "Buy whatever kids are selling at their stands."

There are many minors making money on youtube and for the 16-18 year olds, this restriction is probably not happy news, but as a parent, I still say yes to this move from Youtube.

So far, we have had three cats have their kittens in the calving shed, but new this year is the "community cafe." They just put them all in one pile and then go over and nurse them. The kittens just find an opening and latch on to whatever is available...

Of course, with unsupervised kids, your options are limited. You can shush them, but if the kids have been indoctrinated into the "adults can't do anything to me" philosophy, they don't really care.

I grew up in an era with lots of Summer Camp movies. Meatballs, Ernest Goes To Camp, Camp Nowhere, Friday the 13th...almost all of those movies made me want to go to summer camp, but it just wasn't an option where I grew up.

I think most folks try to get the family together for Easter. We sure did. And it was the first time we had everybody together at the same time since Mother's Day of 2010.

I know we're just barely into Spring, but it's already time to start thinking about what to do with the kids when they get out of school for the Summer. I'm a big fan of things that keep them off the couch and lie somewhere between free and cheap. Pricewise, the "Kids Bowl Free" title says it all. You'll only be out 2 bucks for shoe rental.

I don't cry much but I did a little this morning when I started talking about my kids and how blessed I have been with all four of them. That's why it's so important that we have all we need to give them a chance should they encounter a medical set back...
