Post Office

One of our radio listeners in Billings, who is always a source of great information and leads on information, was passing by the US Postal Service offices earlier this week and he spotted a shipment of some new vehicles.

While sending in my mail-in ballot, I noticed a message on the front to the post office that says "Official ballot. Do Not Delay." It made me wonder why we need that; is there mail that they do delay? If so, why? If two pieces require one stamp why does one get better delivery than the other...

On Sunday the price of a first class stamp will go up by one penny to 46 cents. The U.S. Postal Service needs the extra revenue to try to close a huge deficit created in part by 2006 congressional mandate, under which it has to pre-fund healthcare benefits for future retirees to the tune of $75 Billion...
