Severe Thunderstorms

A gusty cool front will slam into Montana tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday, bringing an increased risk of wildfires for the next few days.

It's kind of like an airbag you put on the outside of your vehicle when a thunderstorm is rolling in. We're... intrigued.

Small hail, gusty wind, and brief heavy rain rolled through the Billings area Tuesday afternoon, our first thunderstorm of the season.

Up to 1 inch of rain could fall quickly in some areas, raising a chance of life-threatening flash flooding and debris flows. Areas with burn scars are at the biggest risk for erosion.

"Isolated Severe Storms" are predicted for Yellowstone County, with some storm cells producing hail that could be hen egg size, according to the National Weather Service.

Normally I park my car in the parkade next to Wells Fargo downtown where my car (except for the cold) isn't exposed to the elements. On the weekends however, I like to park my car closer to my apartment for convenient access. Plus the meter maids aren't out on the weekends...
