Almost like clockwork, there are two sure-fire indicators in Billings that Fall is here and winter is fast approaching... Beartooth Pass shuts down and Softie's closes for the season.

Softies:  Enemy of the low-carb diet and hero to the ice cream lovers in Billings.  Not too many tiny, seasonal businesses survive for more than half a century, but Softies is one of the sweet exceptions. My guess is that unless you are over 60 years old, you won't remember how old you were when you had your first taste of Softies (assuming you grew up here that is)...
