Sometimes it’s best to take an out of sight, out of mind approach to an ex after a breakup. However, in our brave new world of social media, the chances are your former flame is just a couple clicks away, making it difficult to completely ignore them.

Gun control has always been a major issue of debate in America — right up alongside the more recently heated topics of abortion, same-sex marriage and health care — but the tragic shooting of 71 people during a Colorado theater’s showing of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ has given this controversy a brand new spotlight.

New York City is just the latest school district to be rocked with a large-scale high school cheating scandal, this one involving state exams and cell phones. Earlier this year there were also high profile cases of mass cheating in Houston and Long Island.

If you are invited to a friend’s home for dinner, etiquette experts suggest you bring a gift as a way of rewarding the time and expense your hosts have put into the evening. However, due to time constraints, familiarity or a lack of awareness of that etiquette suggestion, a gift isn’t always bought.

New York police removed Occupy Wall Street protesters from their Zucotti Park in an early morning raid this week, and it seems the majority of everybody else couldn’t be happier. According to a telephone survey of 1,170 Americans from Poll Position, 54 percent of Americans agreed with New York’s decision to oust the protesters, who’ve been based in the park for the last two months.

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain recently stated, “There are too many people in the media who are downright dishonest,” and Mediabistro had to see if people agreed. The site’s survey asked 1,179 registered voters if they sided with Cain’s view on the media, and 64 percent of respondents did.

If a new survey from dating site Match.com is to be believed, the rules of dating have changed — largely because of cell phones, email and texting.

According to a new Gallup poll, 50 percent of American adults favor legalizing marijuana, the highest percentage in Gallup’s 42-year history of asking that question. Forty-six percent of Americans believe marijuana should remain illegal.
