All of these California fires have brought back memories of my time as a bus driver for the fires in western Montana in 1985.

It's pretty amazing how your bus full of 60 or 70 firefighters can traverse a skinny little forest trail on it's way to the firebase. The money was incredible. I made more money for five weeks of driving for the fires than I did from my radio job that year.

In case you were curious, the firefighters that I hauled were much better behaved than my junior high kids that year. And smelled better.
